In App Purchases - Is This Feature Coming to AppMakr?

Hi all,

Just exploring my iTunes Connect account today and started looking at the In App purchase information. I have several apps that could benefit from having this ability. One app is a tutorial reference for a piece of software and there are many ebooks surrounding it. It would be great to be able to offer these ebook authors a partnership where I could make their ebooks available through my app.

Another option (and maybe easier from AppMakr's perspective) would be to offer an additional content tab in the app once someone finishes the In App purchase. According to the Apple dev docs, once a purchase is made, they send a "success" message back to the app.

Maybe an In App Purchase Store tab within AppMakr??? I would be willing to pay for this feature:)

Thoughts from the crowd and of course from AppMakr appreciated!

I would like to see in-app purchases start simple by letting the user remove ads since Apple isn't allowing "lite" apps anymore.  I think that would be a good starting point.

Scott, how did you link to the store? Was the link in the more tab inside a blog, HTML or XML feed? I'm trying to create links to the store but find it hard for the links to work properly. Cheers for any help. Mark

Thank you for submitting your appeal to the App Review board. Based on the information you have provided the content aggregation issue has been resolved.

However, we found that your app appears to be a pre-release, test, or trial version with a very limited feature set. Apps that are in beta form, or that are for demonstration or trial purposes only, are not appropriate for the App Store and are not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

When the user attempts to play the live stream from the "More" tab, they are unable to do so and brought to the App Store to upgrade to the full version. Screenshots of this issue have been attached for your reference.

It would be appropriate to remove any references to "demo", "trial", "beta", or "test" in your application description and release notes, and from within the app; and to complete, remove, or fully configure any partially implemented features.

Rather than providing a lite or trial version, you may wish to use In App Purchase to provide access to purchasing additional application features. Rather than requiring users to find, purchase, and download your other application from the App Store, In App Purchase provides a seamless, in app purchasing experience for your users, and an improved selling experience for you.

Had an idea, Apple could pay AppMakr for the revenue generated by the In App Purchases and then App Makr keep a slive and then pay us .... just a thought .... the proverbial carrot!

Hi,

If AppMakr took a percentage of the in app purchase - say 10% that would be a good incentive to create a way for us to have these functions. I have £9.99 apps that Apple have said it was best to utilise In App purchase function because I was cluttering up the Store with duplications. The fact is that I have Video Apps covering Golf, Self Defense, Pilates and Life Coaching. They're different but all use HTML pages and you tube links etc.

In app purchases would mean I could build ONE app and have all the content available it.

Looking forward with anticipation ...

Yeah, the catch here is getting the "in-app" part of the purchase....through iTunes accounts.

Thanks Adam, seems like a good idea for a WP site but not sure it would translate as well to a mobile device.  I've thought of affiliate transactions too but would have to make a special html page for them ... just trying to think within the mobile framework :)  It's so new to me.

@ Diana,

Sorry it took me a couple days to get to this...

First, let's hope AppMakr has a solution planned for using in app purchase feature. In lieu of that, I have a couple ideas but they're not exactly "in-app"...meaning that the actual transaction would not happen through iTunes account and would really just be transaction through website.

These heavily depend on your products and your platform. Because I'm a WordPress guy, that's where I'm coming from...

1. Use WP e-Commerce plugin and use the products feed

http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce/

2. Use the Associate-O-Matic script for pulling in product category feeds of Amazon Affiliate products.

http://www.associate-o-matic.com/

I've used both of these methods for various sites but they are untested as of yet in any of my apps.

@Adam, I am with you on this one. I was just reading about it on iTunes Connect as well. And. It seems like a great way to monetize a free app for a targeted audience. If you figure something out about this, please let me know ... I will do likewise ;) Thanks Adam! Diana
