So you're trying to publish your iPhone app and it all seems to be going well, until you're hit with this message:
"You cannot upload a App Store Provisional with a Developer Certificate".
BLAST!! What does it mean?? It means you've likely been had by one of the Apple doppelgangers. That is, a page within your Apple account that looks eerily similar to another...and ends up leading you in the wrong direction.
When you're creating your Distribution Provisioning Profile during the iOS publishing process, you'll come to a step where you select a "New Profile" button under a tab that says "Distribution Provisioning Profiles" within your Apple account. But it so happens that this tab is right next to another tab for "Development Provisioning Profiles", where you can also create a "New Profile". And the pages are so similar looking that it's no wonder people can end up following the wrong path.
So if what you did looks something like this:
1)
2)
Then you've created a Developer Certificate instead of a Distribution Certificate. Hence the "cannot upload with a Developer Certificate" in your error message.
What you want to do will look like this:
1)
2)
This creates a Distribution Certificate, which is what you're looking for.
If you've unintentionally created a Developer Certificate, you'll have to start the publishing process from scratch for the app in question. Turn on your twin radar and make sure you select the "Distribution" tab instead of the "Development" tab when you're creating your Provisioning Profile.
