We don't have any plans in the near future, but I suggest posting all feature requests here http://bit.ly/cR4plW.  Our developers will take a look at them when implementing new features.  The more customers who are suggesting the feature stand a better chance of having their requested feature implemented.

Here is a list of our current features http://bit.ly/94wOzA, you can login and subscribe so you get an auto update when we add features.

@Richard, I am not going to even attempt to try to add iAds at this point, I am thinking of offering two versions of certain apps (perhaps).  One paid, one with ads.  Will have to see if that works as an option.

@Diana - thanks for sharing that link. Read through as best as I can, but seems way over my head of understanding. Right now just waiting I guess until AppMakr comes to their senses in offering iAds as an integrated option.

I wonder if we can suck the binary into Xcode and make a modification to add this code?..

@Bikul Koirala - This is actually how I understood it awhile ago... that code had to be put into the app, which is why you couldn't utilize iAds with AppMakr unless AppMakr makes it an option under the Monetize tab. I was hoping Diana found otherwise.

@Richard & Diana

My understanding is you cannot show iads until its actually enabled through xcode. When i add iAd in non-appmakr apps, I add iAds through Xcode and enable through iTunes Connect. I dont see any iAds i  my appmakr apps even though iTC says its receiving Live ads. Apple can send ads, but the apps cant show any until there is a space the apps are supposed to show up. Check out the iAds screenshot from my appmakr apps. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

@Heath, I am sorry ... I still thought I was talking to Richard.  I am hoping (crossing fingers).  We shall see.  Whoever gets them posted first, please reply back to this thread.  We are all learning from each other. :)

@Richard, I am assuming no code ... I thought that too.  Perhaps that is why our apps need to be in an "editable state" so that Apple can add something to the code.

That is what I am hoping anyway :)  Gotta try, right :)

Good luck to us! :)

@Diana I just did everything you just laid out and I'm seeing that my app is receiving test ads as well.  I'm just wondering if that is really all we need to do to enable iads.  It seems to me that we would have to of had some code involved in our app as well to enable iads but we shall see what happens!  Thanks for all your work to get us this far!

@Diana - Thank you so much for your extremely helpful info! I actually am not running any ads right now in my app. But as I understand you, I still couldn't add iAds to it...have to submit a new version update. So believe I will have to wait until my new version is ready which will probably be another month.

It looks like you're doing a great job on your process, and certainly have helped me a lot.

... and let me add that I am "running blind" on this as well.  This is my first shot at it too but I read the terms and I think I am on the right track.  Seeing the "sending test ads" encouraged me.  So at least I THINK I am all set.  :)

@Richard, I just read that you did the contract, etc.  Cool.  If you were to try to add iAds (like I did) to your App which is in the app store it won't let you.  It needs a fresh binary to update and edit.  It won't add them to already in App Store apps.  Imagine the user nightmare that would be if both AdMob and iAds were showing up?!  Yikes, horrible usability.  One banner ad is enough for our users ... :)

@Richard, yes ... you will have to update the version of your App that is in the App Store alreadt with a new version.  You cannot run iAd on a version that is "non editable" -- in other words, in the store and approved, it needs to be re-approved.  So if you want iAds, get the contracts prepared (on the screenshot with iTunes Connect on the front page with banking info, etc).

You need to start with a fresh binary without anything in the "monetize" tab on AppMakr (so just remove your AdMob ads in your new release) and let Apple do the iAd stuff.   If you have produced and published AppMakr apps under your own Apple developer account ... you can run iAds.  I guess you wouldn't be able to add them if you were publishing through AppMakr without an Apple Developer account ... the bookkeeping would be horrendous :)   If you are an Apple Developer, iAds are yours for the taking.

Hope that helps.

@Diana - THANKS SO MUCH! This is the best help I've gotten. I am a bit confused though. I have my app approved and it's been in the AppStore for couple months now...although I'm actually working on a new version update already. But my understanding from here on AppMakr is that you could not use iAds with apps created here. If I understand correctly, would I have to upload my new version and then "enable iAds"?  I can't simply have it added to my already approved App there?  I had signed up for iAds through the online steps, so think I'm set there.

"editable state" versus "editable status" ... but I think you get my drift :)

@Richard, I am actually in the process of getting them implemented and Apple says (via iTunes Connect) that Test Ads are being sent to my applications.  The trick is, your apps have to be in an "editable status" ... so I had one that was in the App Store already and two others waiting for reviews.  For the one in the App Store I had to create a new version "1.1" and upload that binary and then "enable iAds" (of course removing AdMob ads in the process for my update).  Getting into the iAd program involved filling out a couple of contracts (online, nothing to mail or fax) and bank info, etc.  Once I had the new binary, I added the new version for my App Store approved app and iAds SHOULD show up on that application once it has been approved.

For the other two Apps which were at a "waiting for review" status, I removed AdMob, rejected the binary on Apple (uggh, I move to the back of the line with those) and enabled iAds.  You can tell you are actually in the iAd program successfully by logging into your iTunes Connect account and you will see iAds listed in the right hand column of stuff near metrics, etc.  This will only show ONCE all your contracts are good, etc.   So, in theory ... iAds should display on all three of my apps once they are officially approved by Apple (one is a version update, two are brand new).  There is an iAd dashboard that will become available to you where you can target the ads (ex: exclusions of competition, etc).  At this point, I have three apps that show they are being sent "test ads" and awaiting the time they go on sale after approval.

Does that make sense?

If you need any screen shots or it isn't clear, let me know and I will be happy to provide them.  It's easier than I expected.

Diana,

Can you please tell me if you  have been able to integrate using iAds in your App instead of AdMob or one of those others? I am still confused as to if or how we can use iAds. I can't seem to get any response to what I think is a simple question.

Thanks, appreciate knowing what you've found out.

Ok, I think that I have everything set to go with this and will share my experiences once I get a published update running iAds.

Is there any bit of code we have to add to our apps. I also assume we need to remove AdMob or any of the other ads showing (well that seems obvious). Just curious about having to add code to display ads or is that something AppMakr is doing. Or maybe Apple does it since the application must be "in an editable state" to enable them. As for me, I am just waiting for my contract to be processed by Apple and have no clue how long that takes. Any iAd success stories out there???

Hello. I apologize, but am completely clueless about this iAd response:

"We're more than happy to work with the current iteration of iAds. The current iteration of iAds is a promotional thing as opposed to putting banner ads in your app."

What do you mean will work with the iteration of iAds?  What is promotional? I thought iAds WAS being able to put iAds banner advertising in your apps...so I don't understand what it is that Appmakr will do with iAds if not able to integrate their banner ads.

@ All - We're more than happy to work with the current iteration of iAds. The current iteration of iAds is a promotional thing as opposed to putting banner ads in your app.

To join the iAd Network, iOS Developer Program members will need to do the following:

  • Agree to the Developer Advertising Services Agreement in iTunes Connect.
  • Set up your banking and tax information if you don’t have a paid app on the App Store.
  • Enable your app for iAd ads in the Manage Your Applications module within iTunes Connect.
  • Set up your iAd preferences in the iAd Network module within iTunes Connect.

Here's some more info on iAds.

Apple will also be launching iAds for Developers soon (they say) which we will also be happy to support. More info can be found here.

In regards to Google AdSense -- this we fully support and is much easier to implement than iAds, Google provide's a good tutorial on creating the your AdSense code here, which you can implement under the monetize tab of AppMakr using the custom ad serving platform.

I hope Appmakr is seriously putting iAd as a top priority. I really love Appmakr, but considering other options for my next app version simply because I want to use iAd. iAd is getting great press and going to be the best advertising option for iPhone app advertising.
