Are you a visual learner? Watch the video at the bottom of this post for play-by-play instructions :)
We strongly suggest using the Safari web browser when interacting with the Apple Developer Portal.
Firefox and Chrome may not work consistently with Apple's website.
a) Sign into AppMakr :: Developer Accounts tab :: Upload Your Apple Developer License Into AppMakr
b) Generate New Certificate Signing Request
c) Download the Certificate Signing Request - The CSR file is sent to your downloads folder by default. Once you download the CSR file, clicking the Generate New CSR button will invalidate the previously downloaded CSR, so be careful not to click more than once!
d) Click here to "Request a Certificate" within the Apple Developer Provisioning Portal.
e) Browse :: Upload CSR file :: Submit
f) After you upload the file and click submit Apple will redirect you to the "Current Distribution Certificate" page and your new certificate will be listed as pending. Refresh the page until you are able to Download your certificate.
g) Once you have downloaded .cer file, go back and upload it into AppMakr
h) Congratulations! You have successfully uploaded your Apple Developer License into AppMakr!!

Hi Manny,
The $99 developer account is only for creating iPhone apps, as Apple requires that you have a developer account and the $99 is their fee. You do not need the developer account to build Windows or Android apps. However, you won't be able to use a Windows app on your iPhone, as the native functionality, code, etc., is very different between platforms. iOS apps will only work on Apple products, Windows on Windows, etc.
To use the app on your iPhone, you'll have to create an iPhone app and purchase the developer account to publish it.
Or, you can find a Windows phone and use the Windows app you've created. Here's more information on Windows phones:http://help.appmakr.com/categories/20005868-windows-phone-apps-help-and-discussions.
Hope that clarified things!
Thanks,
Hayley
Hi, I just created a free build and I only want to use this app for myself on my iphone . I now have an XAP file but do not know how to install the XAP or app on my phone. I was told if I do not want to sell this app I would not have to pay 99 for the developer login.
@Lav,
You uploaded the wrong certificate according to that error,

Hi There,
I am experiencing same issue as many other had in past with Dev. Certificate. I am unable to update my my current App. For 3 days I was unable to update new certificate, currently is providing very strange message. See screenshots: Any help please is in advance appreciated. I need to release the new version asap......
@peejay, are you still getting the server error message? If so, send me your build # (if you have it) and app ID and I can send your info to the team to look into it.
Hello,
What is this error occur?
@Tony yes you need to pay $99. Where exactly are you publishing the app? The app store right? So you've to pay them to be part of the eco system.
When we generate a new certificate signing and upload at apple we get an error:
"Invalid Certificate"
Why so?
I'm starting to get pissed. Sign in here, sign up there. I've followed all the directions. Do you have to pay the 99 bucks to get a app? I'm just trying to get it published. Apple can't find me. What's the deal.
@Anas, I'd like to get to the bottom of the issue that you're experiencing but I"m not clear on exactly what's happening. Can you post screenshots of the trouble area? It's likely that there is a disconnect between the cert that you created versus what is already in your dev account. We'll be able to narrow down the issue once we see the screenshot. Thanks
Tried Safari, tried a Macbook, rebuilt the app even though it means that now it has ads, but none of it worked.
@Anas, @Peejay - are you using Safari to produce your certificates? Apple requires that you use Safari for the certificates process. Please try again using Safari and post back here if you continue to have issues.
@Anthony Cruz - no the push will not work via AppMakr site once you've transferred ownership
@Joshua Chernikoff - I just sent you a ticket to your email, I'll be happy to help you set up your classroom developer environment
Hey Josh,
I am able to help you.
I just sent you a email.

Hello,
I have an AppMaking class that I teach for an after school program. I have an Apple Developer Account and each of my students has their own Appmakr account. I want to set them up so they can use the wonderful apps they made on their own iPods. I cannot seem to use my developer account in more than one Appmakr account. Is their something I am doing wrong. Is there anyone who could walk me through the process. I have been through all the forums to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My email is joshua@flexacademies.com. I am willing to pay you for your time. Thank you.
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/manage/overview/index.action just refreshes back to this page once I've submitted the certificate. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Everyone,
I followed the instruction above in requesting for CSR and the message
"We are unable to upload this Certificate file because it is invalid. Please check the file and try again."
Please help...
Peejay
If I have an app on the store that I made with appmakr, and I transfer ownership of this app to another developer account, will the push notifications via Appmakr still work in my account and the RSS feeds?
Hey Debra,
The problem is not with your App Makr email.
It can be caused by many things.
If you want help with it email me and I should be able to help.

Help! As far as I know, I did it all correctly and it went well until I uploaded my .cer file to AppMkr. Then I got the following error msg:
The certificate you uploaded does not match the certificate signing request (CSR).
Why? The only thing I can think of is that I registered at AppMkr with a different meail address than my Apple Dev account. Could that have got some mismatching identifier in the thing I downloaded from AM and subsequently uploaded to Apple?
Do I have to start again?
Help pls!
Thank you
Hey Steve,
All you need to do is upload your p12 into App Makr instead of creating new certificates.

I already have an Apple Developer Account and have had developers submit apps for me to the app store. Their is already a cert in place in my account so what do we do in this case? I don't want to cause any issues with the current apps since the current distribution file was used to upload them. Also their is one in review at the moment and I don't want to cause any issues with that.
Any suggestions on what steps to take to get my Developer account loaded here in AppMakr?
Hey Josh,
There is not a way to get around this.
To have apps on the app store you need to be registered with apple.

G'day, I am enrolled in Apple's University Developer program, which doesn't let me create Distribution Certificates, so I can't choose Option 2 (when I click 'Generate New Certificate Signing Request' I get the 'Access is Denied' screen as per the first comment above). I must choose Option 1 and upload a p12 file (as I can create Developer certificates).
So I go to KeyChain, export my public key as a p12 file. I go to developer.apple.com --> Provisioning Portal --> Certificates and download a non-expired development certificate (cer file). I issue the following commands:
I then try to upload the new_dev_identity.p12 file into AppMakr Option1 and I get the error:
must be X509, not None.
Can you help please?
i am getting the message below whe i clicking
Step 2:
Click here to "Request a Certificate" within the Apple Developer Provisioning Portal. Then scroll to the bottom of Apples "Request a Certificate" page and select "choose file". The file you will be uploading is the one you just created and downloaded above (with extention .csr)
Access denied
You do not have access to the page you requested.
Return to the iOS Dev Center
I have looked at all available documentation and still can not get past the "invalid certificate" error.
The link http://developer.apple.com/iphone/manage/certificates/team/createDistribute.action just gives me the unautherized page, and i am shure of inputing the corect user name and password. I did'nt pay the $99, do i need too? and if I dont, how do i fix this? (only trying to test here! not paying the $99!)
Do you have to pay the $99 fee to get your app on your own device to test?
Hi Anne,
After your add your developer account into Appmakr, it applies for all future apps. The only thing you need to do is to add new app id's in apple and create the distribution provisionals for each new app. When you are making changes and republishing, you simply need to make the changes, and republish both a test app and an app store app. Since you are having problems I suggest starting over. This will not effect any apps that are in the store already. Please see this video for special instructions on how to start over adding your apple developer account into AppMakr. http://bit.ly/hUeA23
Thanks!
I already have a developer account and distribution certificate for an existing app that I'd like to edit and a new app that I'd like to do with app maker. I followed your instrux but cannot seems to upload the generated cert signing request. WHen I do, the page does not change to show this.
What else should I know?
Thanks!
@ Greg - I recommend that you delete/revoke all certs in both AppMakr and Apple and start from scratch. Following the steps in these videos will guide you in successfully setting up your Apple Developer Account.
I get a error uploading csr file to apple. After submitting the csr file i get this error "We are unable to upload this Certificate file because it is invalid. Please check the file and try again." I tried generating 5 different csr files and got the same error each time. How can I fix this?
Hello Anthony,
Since I'm not sure of the steps you took to get those errors, it's hard for me to trouble shoot. But, I can tell you that you don't need to create a development certificate, we only use the distribution certs within AppMakr. Also, apple's instructions are not going to work for AppMakr, our developers have created a much simpler way for our customers to put their apple developers license into AppMakr. I would suggest starting from the beginning, deleting your developers license in AppMakr, and revoking your certs in Apple. If you follow the instructions above using step 2, I think you will find it's much easier. The p12 is already created for you so you won't have to deal with keychain access either. Please let me know if you have any further questions along the way.
I am getting an error whenever I attempt to upload my P12 file. I am using an IMac and registered my certificate with Apple directly - did not use your generate new certificate signing request system - i used Option 1.
I followed Apple's instructions and created both a Developer and Distribution certificate and downloaded it to my IMac Keychain. The public/private keys I generated were RSA 2048.
I exported my private key to a P12 file and uploaded it to your site using Option1. I get the following error.
http://www.appmakr.com
dump+certificate() argument 2 must be X509, not None.
What am I doing wrong?
My account is under the email address anthony@grq.net
@ Natalie -- You created a "developer" certificate and not a "distribution" certificate in Apple. You need to delete your AppMakr cert and Apple cert and start from scratch. Be sure to read the directions very closely as it is easy to make a simple mistake :)
Hi I have done all of the above. It also says that my iPhone app is ready to publish. I have uploaded all the right certificates.
I've got to the final step and receive this error - You cannot upload a App Store Provisional with a Developer Certificate
Help please this has taken FAR too long
@Gabriel
Can you clarify what it is that you exactly made a mistake on? Are you referring to your name with registering with Apple? You would have to contact them, we have no control over that. You can still create an app with us, there is no tie in with the login credentials with Apple.
Hello, I make a mistake in the name when I create my Apple ID. How this affect when i Try to create an app for the appstore.
Pelase tell how can I solve this.
Thk´s
@ Iain & Newcomb -- Awesome! That's great news:) Thanks for sharing your tips and info with everyone!!
@Leiser - Thanks. I called apple support and even though I was registered - somehow, I was not completely enrolled. They are sending me the info. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.
Afternoon
I would suggest you call Apple on their helpline. What I found and I noticed it on another posting was that the user ids were different.
They were very helpful and identified the issue quickly as well as resolving it.
Iain
@ Newcomb -- I would suggest actually logging out of the Apple Developer Portal. Then click on the link again and log in with the email address and password that you used to register for the iPhone Developer Program. Some have found this issue when they log in with the wrong email address (like their iTunes account log in info).
I am having the same problems detailed above.
I do have a developer account and I do see the correct page in the link above.
When I click on the link - Click here to "Request a Certificate" within the Apple Developer Provisioning Portal. I get redirected to http://developer.apple.com/iphone/unauthorized.action - with error message Sorry page not found. - this is very frustrating...... any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Leiser - Thanks for your help. I called Apple Developer support and they solved the issue. I had logged in with one email address that was NOT a Developer while clicking on the "register" link from the Apple email in another window. This caused me to have duplicate developer logins with Apple:
1. One had my email address and NO iPhone Developer Account
2. The other had my account name, the Developer Account, but no verification/registration because I clicked on the "register" link to finalize the registration for Account #1.
Anyway, very confusing. Apple fellow was very helpful on the phone. Cleared up my issue of not being able to log in and follow the link (because it turns out I couldn't log in AT ALL!). Thanks again!
-- David
Thanks - yes I can see the screen and it is telling to join the iPhone Developer Program Today.
Does that mean I am still fully registered?
Iain
Take a look at the attached screenshot. Do you see the area that I circled in red when you are go to: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/index.action
Or does it tell you to "Join the iPhone Developer Program Today"?
I have an emai lfrom apple saying
Thank You for Registering as an Apple Developer
Yes - I am just in the process of downloading the SDK and Xcode software.
Iain
Have you received the confirmation email from Apple notifying you of your acceptance into their Developer Program?
Yes
Have you purchased your Apple Developer License yet? This is the initial step for setting up your self-publishing account in AppMakr. After you enroll in the Apple Developer Program and receive confirmation from Apple that you have been accepted, you will then be able to access the Provisioning Portal link.
Here is the screenshot
Hi
I am getting the same message
Iain
Hi David, I just tried the link and it worked fine for me. Would you mind trying again? It sounds like Apple's site may have been down at the time you were trying to access the link. If you get the same error, please take a screenshot and post it here. Also, let me know which web browser you are using along with the URL the link bring you to.
This link mentioned in the steps above does NOT work...
Click here to "Request a Certificate" within the Apple Developer Provisioning Portal.
It generates a page on developer.apple.com that says "We're sorry. The page you have requested can't be found. And this is with me successfully logged into my developer account on the Apple site. What do you recommend as a fix or alternate steps?
